Olson Family | Fall Family Session

To be honest with you I kind of detest the idea of the fall session. The leaf color is usually only good for one week before it is gone. October weather is very very rainy. It’s hard to predict what week the color will be great. Good locations that are not super packed are hard to find. (Seriously, drive through Old Frankfort on a Sunday in October and November and you will see what I mean). Truly the list goes on and on and on. But this session might have changed my mind about the fall family session.

I went to a few forest preserves this year in search of the perfect fall location and I think I have found it. Sorry I won’t share, and have sworn my clients to secrecy because it is perfectly remote and secluded and not crowded! It is all mine! (Insert maniacal laughter).

Whenever I go to a new location I have a bit of nervousness before the session. I worry that I am going to start in the wrong spot and miss all the good light, should I have started the session earlier because of the trees or the hill, what part of my flow should I do in which area. My mind goes on and on.

Luckily for this shoot I had the sweetest family that put my mind right at ease. The Olson’s are so kind. The boys are adorable and the Mama is stunning. We had lots of fun doing both the posed pictures and the unposed games. They boys followed direction so well that I was able to try a few new things without worrying that they would be an epic fail. I am so happy with how the session went and dare I say am starting to like fall pictures.
